From September 23 to 28, 2026, the final competition of the 2026 World Vocational College Skills Competition in the Geological Exploration and Geomatics track (Higher Vocational Education category) was held at Kunming Metallurgy College. The team from Hubei Urban Construction Vocational College stood out among 104 competing teams nationwide, winning the gold medal through strong technical expertise, innovative technology applications, and outstanding teamwork.

In recent years, technologies such as 3D scanning, SLAM, 3D visualization, and digital twins have been increasingly applied in cultural heritage preservation, urban development, water conservancy, and smart surveying. These developments are creating a growing demand for highly skilled professionals with practical expertise in emerging technologies.

The college won gold with its project, “Spatiotemporal Intelligence for Smart Mapping: Innovation and Application of Construction Project Planning Compliance Surveys for New Infrastructure.”

The project utilized a Trimble X7 3D Laser Scanner supplied by TianbaoNet and achieved technological advances in geospatial database data acquisition and integration, database development and management, as well as data analysis and application.
